The HI83746-20 are high quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate colorimetric measurements. These reagents follow the Fehling method in which the reaction between reducing sugars and the two reagents (Fehling’s A Solution and Fehling’s B Solution) causes a blue tint in the sample. By adding a sample of wine that contains reducing sugars to the HI83746A-0 and HI83746B-0 reagents and digesting for 7 minutes, a reaction will take place and the HI83746 photometer can be used to determine the reducing sugar concentration from the color that is produced. The results will be displayed in g/L (ppt), and users can perform simple calculations to obtain results of reducing sugar percent (%) or potential alcohol degree (% by volume). These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected range of 0.00 to 50.00 g/L (ppt) reducing sugars.
